The third edition of the ICC World Test Championship turned out to be a historic and unforgettable moment for South Africans. Facing defending champions Australia at the iconic Lord’s ground, the Proteas were up against a side that was aiming for their second title in a row. But South Africa had other plans, with everything on the line, they rose and chased down the 282 in the final innings, scripting a 5-wicket win. This moment marked their first-ever WTC title and added another milestone in their nation’s cricket history.

India, which made it to the finals in the last two cycles, missed out this time and finished third in the standings. That alone tells you how tough and competitive this WTC Cycle has been. Over the last two years, teams have battled through long tours, difficult conditions, and tight schedules to earn points across various home and away bilateral series.

In the end, only the top teams in the standings make it to the final. The latest edition featured South Africa and Australia, two strong sides with rich Test Histories. Both teams showed resilience, dominance throughout the cycle, and in the end, Proteas spoiled the party and became the ultimate third edition crown winner. In this blog, I’ll walk you through the list of all WTC winners from the first edition to the most current one. So if you are a quick-to-go stat fan or a die-hard fan this list will help you have a quick snapshot of who’s dominated the WTC so far.
