Former South African opener Herschelle Gibbs has expressed his view that Rohit Sharma is way better than Virat Kohli. He believes that Rohit is superior to Kohli in terms of Technical aspects of the shots played. Gibbs compared the batters and expressed that Rohit can play better shots than Kohli on any surface any day and especially in the white ball format cricket.
Replying to an online video made by fans on ‘X’ platform, Gibbs highlighted the difference between the shots played by Kohli and Rohit. In a video uploaded by fans, the clip shows the same kind of shots that Kohli keeps repeating, while Rohit Sharma explores other varieties of options. “This is the real difference between them. Kohli tries to play the same type of shot every time, even if he gets out doing it. He doesn’t elevate his game. But Rohit literally tries different kinds of shots every time, even in his worst form. Kohli doesn’t have that ability to adapt, but Rohit does, that’s why Rohit has succeeded in playing fine Test cricket even after his mid-30s,” the user wrote on X.

You ever see Rohit defend balls on 4th or 5th stump? Gibbs wrote.
Reacting to this video, Gibbs replied saying that it is the job of the batting coach to help them explore more scoring options.
“It’s up to the batting coach to give him more options to score no matter who the batter is.. thank me later,” wrote the former Proteas batter. Further the conversation went on and a user asked the proteas who among the two is a better batter in terms of techniques, to which he replied saying that Rohit is technically better than Kohli.
“Rohit was always more technically correct than Virat. But Virat’s desire to dominate, especially in white ball format, is a major difference between the 2 batters.”
This incident went on with a conversation in the reply section, he even went on defending his statement and elaborated why he thought Rohit is better than Virat Kohli, to a user who disagreed with Gibbs point.
“You ever see Rohit defend balls on 4th or 5th stump? How many times did Virat get out doing just that? Rohit definitely technically better than Virat,” Gibbs wrote.
