After Harry Brook decided to opt out of the IPL 2025, he is now facing a two-year ban from BCCI for violating their rules. BCCI has shared the official confirmation about Harry Brook‘s ban to the Wales Cricket Board and England Cricket Board.
Now, after the ban, Harry Brook won’t be part of the next two editions of the Indian Premier League and also can not give his name in the IPL Auctions as well. The BCCI has made this decision following Brook’s decision of not participating in the IPL 2025 and giving importance to his Home cricket.
Why did the BCCI Ban Harry Brook from the IPL?
Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to ban Harry for the upcoming editions following their IPL Rulebook. As per the IPL rules any player who opts out of the season after he has been purchased by a franchise in the IPL will be banned from IPL. The board introduced this law last year to avoid last-minute squad reshuffles and also prevent overseas players from skipping the tournament after successfully finding a franchise for the upcoming season.

This isn’t the first instance when Brook has pulled out his name from IPL; he has done the same in the past edition. Brook didn’t participate in IPL 2024 and opted out from the season following his grandmother’s death. He has been bought for an amount of 6.25 crore by the Delhi Capitals Franchise and now has left the franchise hanging in for his replacement.
Harry Brook and IPL
Harry has been part of different franchises throughout his IPL career stint and was picked up by Delhi Capitals at the last year’s IPL Mega Auction. But now he won’t be participating in the upcoming season and has pulled out his name for IPL 2025.
“I have decided to pull out of the Indian Premier League. I apologies to the Delhi Capitals and their fans. “I wanted to play for my country as a child and I am thankful to have the opportunity to play at the highest level. After speaking to the people I trust, I have decided to give my time to England cricket. I need time to recharge before the next assignment. “
