Dropping a hint over test cricket retirement plans, Virat Kohli expressed that 2024 BGT was the last cricket he played with Australia. Talking on a recent RCB event after arriving in Bengaluru, Kohli was seen admitting that he won’t be playing another test match, he “might not have another Australia tour in him” stating that he might have a retirement plan in upcoming few years.
After the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25, Virat’s form wasn’t great, and he has been seen struggling while on the tour and post-tour. He had played a total of five innings against Australia, where he just scored a total of 190 runs with an average of 23.75.
Discussing the post retirement plans at an event, Virat reflected back at his Australian soil struggles, Kohli opened up and said that he is done with the Australia tour. “I might not have another Australia tour in me, so I am at peace with whatever happened in the past.”
With BGT 2024/25 being last, Kohli might bid farewell to test Cricket
Expressing and reflecting on his past experiences with team Australia, Kohli admitted that he didn’t have a great outing in the Test series against Australia. The batter struggled to keep the pace all time high and get going. He started the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 on a high with a century in the Perth Stadium, but following that, he didn’t have a great game, and he just managed 90 runs for the next 4 test matches.
Amid the struggles, Virat Kohli made a shocking statement and said, “I might not have another Australia tour in me, so I am at peace with whatever happened in the past.” India are now expected to tour Australia in 2028 for the BGT and there are chances that Virat Kohli might not be there with the team.
Citing his statement it can be confirmed that the BGT 2024/25 was his last test cricket and he might not return to another test cricket match for the 2028 tour.
