The highly anticipated India tour of England 2025 for five Test matches is set to kick off on 13 June in Beckenham. With Indian cricket giants Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from Test cricket, the next generation faces the huge challenge of filling their shoes. According to reports, Shubman Gill is set to be announced as the team captain and is also expected to bat at number 4.

Shubman Gill to bat at number four in the England Test series

According to Cricbuzz, Shubman Gill is all set to lead Team India in a five-match Test series in England. The 25-year-old will also bat at number 4, filling the spot left vacant by the retired Virat Kohli. This leaves the number 3 position open.

Crizbuzz also reported that the Sai Sudharsan, who is in red-hot form in IPL 2025, is likely to be named in the squad and is also expected to bat at number 3. The top 4 of India in England are likely to be Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, and Shubman Gill.

Additionally, Karun Nair, who performed outstandingly well in the domestic season, is also in contention for the Indian squad for the England series.

Indian pace attack for the England Test series

Mohammed Shami, India’s key pacer in Test cricket for a long time, is struggling with injuries and is unlikely to be picked for the highly anticipated series. So Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace attack with other expected bowlers like Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, and Harshit Rana. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Shardul Thakur are likely to join the squad as all-rounders.
