Rishabh Pant, Captain, Lucknow Super Giants has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 45 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday.

As this was his team’s second offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, will be fined either INR six lakhs or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.

Facing the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants suffered another loss of the season. LSG were thoroughly outplayed by a resurgent MI in the afternoon clash of the Sunday double-header. After winning the toss, Rishabh Pant invited the home team to bat first. However, during the chase, LSG faltered and lost the match by 54 runs, marking their third defeat in the last four matches. LSG started strong this season, but after a few wins, the team failed to maintain momentum and has now faced back-to-back defeats. As of now, Mumbai Indians sit in second place on the points table, while LSG has dropped to fifth.

Now for the upcoming clash, Rishabh-led Lucknow will face Punjab Kings on May 4 in 54th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League.
