Delhi Capitals sign Mustafizur Rahman as replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk

Delhi Capitals (DC) have signed Mustafizur Rahman as Jake Fraser-McGurk has opted to leave from the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to personal reasons. Mustafizur Rahman has so far played 57 IPL matches and has 61 wickets against his name. He has played 106 T20Is for Bangladesh, picking up 132 wickets from the same. The left-arm medium pacer will join DC for INR 6 Crore.

With six wins in 11 matches, DC are currently sitting in 5th position in the table. After losing back-to-back matches to Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders, the team got 1 point in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, thanks to rain. They need to step up at this crucial stage of the tournament. The top order of the team is struggling, and the bowling department has been average in the last three games.

As IPL 2025 is resuming from 17th May and some of their players will not be available for selection, like Mitchell Starc and Jake Fraser-McGurk, so Mustafizur Rahman is a good addition to the team. The left-arm pacer from Bangladesh has previously played for franchises like Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Chennai Super Kings. In a total of 57 matches in the IPL, Mustafizur took 61 wickets with an average of 28.88 and an economy of 8.14.

A total of three matches are remaining for Delhi Capitals in the league stage. They will play Gujarat Titans on 18th May in a home game, then travel to Mumbai for the second last game against Mumbai Indians on 21st May, and the final game of their league phase is scheduled against Punjab Kings in Jaipur on 24 May.
