Following the suspension of the Pakistan Super League due to increasing India-Pakistan border conflicts. Upon reaching the UAE airport, amidst the escalated tension, Bangladesh all-rounder Rishad opened up about his experience with several other overseas players. He claimed that Tom Curran ended up crying like a baby when he learned about the airport closure, and  New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell has vowed to never return to Pakistan to play cricket, said the Bangladesh Cricketer  Rishad Hossain. The Bangladesh leg-spinner added that other foreign players, including Sam Billings, Kusal Perera, and David Wiese, were “frightened” by the sudden escalation of hostilities between the two nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours.

“Foreign players like Sam Billings, Daryl Mitchell, Kushal Perera, David Wiese, Tom Curran… all of them were so frightened… Landing in Dubai, Mitchell told me that he would never go to Pakistan again, especially in this kind of scenario. Overall, they were all horrified,” Rishad told Cricbuzz after arriving in Dubai on Saturday.

“He (Tom Curran) went to the airport, but heard that the airport was closed. Then he started crying like a little child, that it took two or three people to handle him,” the 22-year-old added.

Daryl Mitchell and Tom Curran were among the many overseas players who were part of the Pakistan Super League’s edition 10. Scheduled to be concluded on May 18, the PSL was called off mid-way, after the Emirates Cricket Board refused to accept Pakistan’s proposal to host the remaining matches of the PSL. Earlier than this, the PCB formally cancelled the PSL on Friday, 9th May 2025.

After the suspension of the league, all the international players participating in the PSL were flown to the UAE, from where they had connecting flights to their respective destinations. Upon reaching Dubai airport safely, Rishad expressed their joy and relief and said, “Alhamdulillah, we’ve made it to Dubai after managing to get through a tough situation, and I’m feeling much better now. When we landed in Dubai, we learned that a missile had struck the airport just 20 minutes after we had taken off. The news was both frightening and heartbreaking. Now that we’ve reached Dubai, there’s a sense of relief,”
