BCCI to announce India A Squad on May 13 for England Tour

BCCI is ready to name the India A team for the England tour on May 13. Top domestic players are expected to be part of the squad.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly expected to announce the India A Team Squad on May 13, Tuesday. The squad will feature against England Lions in the United Kingdom, and as per Cricbuzz reports, the squad for the same has already been picked with a few final touches waiting to be confirmed. The selectors for the same gathered together for a meeting at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai on May 6, a day before Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test Cricket. The official announcement for the India A Squad will likely be announced on May 13.

India A are scheduled to play three games – two versus England Lions (May 30-June 2 and June 6-9) and one against the senior India squad (June 13-16). The senior Indian side, with a new captain, is expected to be selected on May 23.

Abhimanyu Easwaran to captain India A Squad

It is expected that some of the domestic players are to be made part of the series, including Devdutt Padikkal, Karun Nair, Sai Sudharsan, and many others are likely to be made part of the Indian Squad. With the news of domestic talent, Abhimanyu Easwaran is the main player who can lead the Indian A squad for the upcoming England tour.

 The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has advised the selectors to pick a squad that comprises non-IPL players and those part of the teams that are expected to be out of contention for the IPL playoffs and can join them in England for the second and third games.

Along with details on the India A squad the reports also have provided an update around the upcoming Test Series tour of England. The team will tour England for a 5 match test series starting on June 20. BCCI will announce soon for the series and will also name the Test Captain during the same time, as the current Skipper Rohit has stepped down from the format and a whole new challenge of leadership also awaits.
