In the recent development around cricket Family travel policies, BCCI has cleared the air around the rumors and confirmed that BCCI is not changing any of the Family Travel policies and will continue with the old rules that limit family travel with players.

BCCI has issued strict regulations after the disappointing BGT Defeat and imposed rules that limited players to spending time with their families on overseas tours and families were only allowed for a limited time duration with players. The BCCI made the rules to improve players’ focus and improve their overall gaming performance. But many players including Virat Kohli criticized the rule and expected a family time during the tours after which certain reports suggested that the BCCI will likely increase the family duration if players seek board permission.

“No Player Wants to Sit Alone and Sulk” – Kohli on Family Rule

The family rule came into much limelight when Virat Kohli opened about the rule and was seen highly criticising the rule. At the RCB Innovation event, Kohli expressed his displeasure and remarked that no player loves to sit alone in the room and sulk on his own. Everyone wants to see and spend time with their family after a match.

“If you ask any player, do you want your family to be around you all the time? They’ll be like, yes. I don’t want to go to my room and just sit alone and sulk. I want to be able to be normal. And then you can really treat your game as something that is a responsibility. You finish that responsibility, and you come back to life,” Virat Kohli was quoted as saying after a recent event in Bengaluru.

“The Policy Will Remain Intact” – BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia

After Kohli’s remarks, there were rumors all around that seeking the impact on the mental and emotional well-being of players, BCCI would like to change the Family Rule and allow families to stay with players for longer time. However, in a recent event, the BCCI Secretary broke his silence on the rumors and stated that the policy is there to stay and no change will be made to it.

“At this stage, the current policy will remain intact, as it is of paramount importance to both the nation and our institution, the BCCI,” Devajit Saikia told Cricbuzz in an interview.

“The BCCI recognizes that there may be some resentment or differing opinions, as in a democratic setup, people are entitled to express their views. The policy is applied uniformly to all team members – players, coaches, managers, support staff, and everyone involved – and has been implemented with the best interests of everyone in mind,” he added.
