The Board of Control for Cricket in India has denied the reports of pulling out of the ACC events and, most importantly, the Asia Cup 2025. Earlier than this, there were reports that  BCCI had informed the Asian Cricket Council of its decision to stay away from the matches that will involve India and Pakistan’s participation in the event. Speaking to Cricbuzz, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said no decision on the upcoming Asian events was discussed by the board, so there is no question about writing to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) about withdrawal.

“Since this morning, it has come to our notice that some news items about BCCI’s decision not to participate in Asia Cup and Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup, both ACC’s events. Such news are devoid of any truth as till now BCCI has not even discussed or taken any such steps regarding the upcoming ACC events, leave alone writing anything to the ACC,” Saikia said.

“At this stage, our prime focus is on the ongoing IPL and subsequent England series, both men and women,” the BCCI official further said.

“The Asia Cup matter or any other ACC event issue has not come up for discussion at any level, hence any news or report on that is purely speculative and imaginary. It may be said that BCCI will announce in due course as and when any discussion on any ACC events should take place or any key decision is reached,” Saikia added further.

Following the Operation Sindoor and IPL Suspension, there has been widespread uncertainty around the future of the Asia Cup and the upcoming edition of the second edition of Emerging Women’s Asia in Sri Lanka. As the official confirmation has been passed by the Secretary, BCCI is not thinking about these tournaments and is currently focused on the upcoming England tour and the successful completion of the ongoing IPL 2025 Season. So with it, the Asia Cup is still in the news and will likely be played as per the original schedule.
