The Group B semi-finalist of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to travel to the UAE, aiming to get more time to prepare for the first semi-final in Dubai, as India’s schedule is fixed for the Dubai International Stadium. Before the India vs. New Zealand game on 3rd March, the semi-final fixtures won’t be fixed. So Group B semi-finalists are traveling to the UAE on Saturday, and one team will return again to Pakistan to play the second semi-final against New Zealand in Lahore, and one team will play against India in Dubai.
India, New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa are qualified for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Semi Finals. The 1st semi-final is set to be played in Dubai on 4th March, and as India’s whole campaign is set to be played in the UAE, they will play the 1st semi-final, and New Zealand will compete in the 2nd semi-final in Lahore.
Australia has already left for Dubai after qualifying for the semi-finals, while South Africa will travel on Saturday after completing their last league match against England on 1st March.
Why are the Group B semi-finalists traveling to Dubai?
Both Group B semi-finalist teams want more time to prepare for the knockout match, but the fixtures will only be fixed after the India vs. New Zealand game, which is set to be played on 3rd March in Dubai. According to the ICC Champions Trophy format, the 1st-ranked team of Group A will play the 2nd-ranked team of Group B, and the 1st-placed team of Group B will face the 2nd-ranked team of Group A.
Currently New Zealand is sitting at the top of the Group A points table with 2 wins in 2 matches, followed by India with the same record. On the other hand, Australia is currently leading the Group B table, but South Africa will climb up to the top after the SA vs. ENG match on Saturday, where SA currently has better chances of winning at the time of writing.
So the India vs. New Zealand match result will decide the two semi-final fixtures of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
