3 players who can replace Rohit Sharma in Test Cricket

Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan will be a great choice as a Test team opener for India. The 23-year-old left-handed batter is known for his amazing technique and consistency. Currently, he is in red-hot form in IPL 2025, scoring 509 runs in 11 matches with an average of 46.27. In first-class cricket, the left-handed batter scored 1957 runs in 29 matches with an average of 39.93.

KL Rahul

As Rohit Sharma retires from Test cricket, this opens the door for KL Rahul to fix his spot as a permanent opener in the side. He also opened for India in the absence of Rohit in BGT 2024-25 and performed amazingly well. The 33-year-old right-handed batter has played 58 Tests for India, scoring 3257 runs with an average of 33.57, including 8 hundreds and 17 half centuries.

Abhimanyu Easwaran

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been part of the Indian squad multiple times in recent years, either as a reserve or a backup opener. Now, this is also a great chance for selectors to finally give him an opportunity in the toughest format of the game. In 101 first-class matches, Abhimanyu scored 7674 runs with an average of 48.87, including 27 centuries and 29 fifties.
