Divorce Plea ahead of IPL 2025
Yuzvendra Chahal and his now announced ex-wife Dhanashree Verma has applied for a fast track court procedure and taking on the plea, Bomney high court has moved ahead and granted them mutual consent based divorce.
Chahal and Dhanashree had filed for divorce by mutual consent on February 5. However, the family court refused to waive the mandatory six-month cooling-off period on February 20. Chahal and Dhanashree later challenged the family court’s decision with a joint plea at the Bombay High Court. Under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act, a six-month cooling-off period is mandatory before granting a divorce but can be waived if reconciliation is unlikely.
The player applied for a fast-track request considering his IPL Commitments with Punjab Kings in the IPL and his busy schedule ahead as the season starts. The leg-spinner had been training with the Punjab Kings squad in Chandigarh earlier this week and has taken a break to attend the hearing scheduled for 20 March.
As a part of the divorce settlement, Yuzi will pay an amount of ₹4.75 crore to Dhanashree as an alimony amount.
