Priyansh Arya, who opened for the PBKS in their season opener match against the Gujarat Titans, is making headlines with his debut innings. The local Delhi player has rapidly risen in his cricketing career and delivered ranks and outstanding performances in the domestic season.

Winning the toss, Gujarat Titans opted to field, making Punjab Kings to come on the crease for batting. While the PBKS wasn’t sure of whom to open with they chose to go with new debutant Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. While the duo opened for Kings, Siraj held the bowling on the other hand.

Who is Priyansh Arya?

Priyansh Arya, who opened for the Punjab Kings, is a local Delhi-based player. Playing as a left-handed batsman, he is also known for his occasional off-break bowling. He made his domestic debut with the Delhi Premier League and has gained recognition for his explosive batting form.

Playing in the league, the batter amassed a total of 608 runs in just 10 innings for South Delhi Superstarz. The best moment of his innings came when he smashed six sixes in the league playing against North Delhi Strikers, which not just brought him limelight but also made him the favorite of the season.

Talking about the new debutant, Ricky Ponting appreciated him and was astonished to see what he can bring on the table for the PBKS.. “Priyansh Arya, I think, is a very special potential opening batsman for us going forward in the tournament. Depending on which way we go with our overseas make-up, he’s very exciting,” Ponting said.
