Jonny Bairstow, who replaced Ryan Rickelton for the Mumbai Indians, arrived in style in the crucial IPL 2025 Eliminator against the Gujarat Titans, smashing 26 runs off a single over from Prasidh Krishna. Notably, this is his first match of the season and debut for five-time champions MI. The new opening pair smashed 79 runs in the powerplay to put early pressure on GT at Mullanpur Stadium.

In the fourth over of the match, Jonny Bairstow pulled the first ball of Prasidh Krishna for a gigantic six of 95m. The right-hand batter cuts the second ball for a four over the point. Prasidh beats the batter on the third ball, but Bairstow comes back on the fourth ball, missing a slog but going for a six with an edge. He smashed a clean six this time on the fifth delivery over the head of the bowler. He did not stop there and smashed a four to end the over on 26 runs.

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya won the toss in the Eliminator against Gujarat Titans and elected to bat first at Mullanpur Stadium. Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson, and Raj Angad Bawa replaced Ryan Rickelton, Will Jacks, and Deepak Chahar in MI’s playing XI, while Washington Sundar and Kushal Mendis were named in GT’s XI.
