‘Save everyone, if you can’: Rajasthan Royals Sawai Mansingh stadium receives bomb threat

Bomb threat at SMS Stadium ahead of PBKS vs RR match. Email warns of blast; police evacuate venue and begin high-alert search ops.

Amidst the ongoing tension with the neighbouring nation, Pakistan, due to terrorist attacks and operation Sindoor, RR’s home ground has received a bomb threat. The threat was received by the Rajasthan State Sports Council on Thursday morning. The threat came via Email with a warning of an explosion at the stadium. The email referenced Operation Sindoor, saying, “To mark the success of Operation Sindoor, we will carry out a bomb blast at your stadium.”The message ended with a note, “Save everyone if you can.” Authorities are currently investigating the threat.

Rajasthan Sports Council President Neeraj K Pawan said a threat to blow up the SMS Stadium was received in an email. “I informed senior officials after which a search operation was conducted in the stadium in the presence of senior police officers. Bomb squad and dog squad have also been deployed at the stadium, which has been evacuated,” he said. He further informed that the Cyber Crime unit was also informed, and the team is investigating the matter. All the players and all the staff have been evacuated. “There is no need to panic as the police are on high alert,” he said.

Checking up on the matter, the sports minister also reviewed the situation with officials and posted about the situation saying that the situation is under control.  “The situation is completely under control. Security agencies are alert and working diligently at every level. Everyone is safe,” he tweeted.

Similar Bomb threats for KKR vs CSK match 

The mail followed the earlier bomb threat received by Cricket Associations of Bengal during Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings Match 57 at the Eden Gardens. The email was found in CAB’s mail box during the match hours.  Authorities were alerted at the same moment and security measures at the stadium were made stronger to keep the players, fans and staff safe.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium is set to host the upcoming match between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals on May 16. This would be the last match for the IPL 2025 Season at this ground.
