Royal Challengers Bengaluru sign Mayank Agarwal as injury replacement for Devdutt Padikkal

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have signed Mayank Agarwal as an injury replacement for Devdutt Padikkal for the remainder of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Padikkal, who played 10 matches for RCB this season and scored 247 runs with the help of two half-centuries, sustained an injury to his right hamstring.
Mayank Agarwal has played 127 IPL matches so far, scoring 2661 runs. He has 1 IPL hundred and 13 fifties against his name. He joins RCB for INR 1 Crore.
Devdutt Padikkal has been outstanding for RCB this season. The left-handed batter has taken on an attacking role in the middle overs, a shift from his more cautious approach in previous years. In 10 matches, the 24-year-old scored 247 runs with an average of 27.44 and a strike rate of 150.60, including 2 half-centuries.
Mayank Agarwal is a top-order batter who played for five franchises in the Indian Premier League, including Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Rising Pune Supergiants, Punjab Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. In a total of 127 IPL matches, the 34-year-old scored 2661 runs with an average of 22.74 and a strike rate of 133.05, including 1 century and 13 half-centuries.
Royal Challengers Bangalore are currently sitting in the 2nd position in the points table with eight victories in 11 matches. With a total of 16 points, the team almost qualified for the playoffs of IPL 2025. Now the real fight will be for the top 2 finish and the first title.
RCB’s next three matches are against Lucknow Super Giants on May 9 in Lucknow, Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 13 in Bengaluru, and their final league game is against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 17, also in Bengaluru.
