Punjab Kings were set to face Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday evening at 7:30, but Rain played an uninvited guest and disrupted the match for an uncertain time. However, the match saw the toss take place on a scheduled timing, but then quick showers took place on the ground, taking the covers to come out on the pitch, delaying the match for the next two hours.

However, after a long delay due to persistent rain in Ahmedabad, the much-anticipated IPL 2025 Qualifier finally got underway. While fans were relieved to see the game begin, the threat of another weather interruption still hangs in the air. With the spot in the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on the line, every ball counts.

But with the rain threat still in the air, it raises an important question: How many questions are needed to decide a result in this match?

Minimum Overs needed for a Result in IPL Knockouts

Even though the game resumed after a delay of 2 hours and 15 minutes, no overs were lost as the game resumed on time. However, given the unpredictable skies, interruptions could happen again. As per the IPL Rules, the BCCI has allotted an extra 120 minutes of buffer time for playoff games. But in the worst-case scenario, at least five overs per side are required to officially determine a winner in this match.
