In a recent match against the Rajasthan Royals at M Chinnaswamy, there were some special moments, where Kohli politely dismissed Mentor Dinesh Karthik’s request with a joining hand gesture. The moment was captured on camera, which was widely shared among fans online. In the video, Kohli can be seen dismissing the request of Dinesh Karthik and Coach Andy while he was fielding on the ground. Though the actual conversation between the trio remains unknown, it could be guessed from Kohli’s gestures that whatever it was, Kohli wasn’t ready to go for it.

Virat Kohli, ex-RCB skipper, may have stepped down as a captain for the franchise, but still remains the most active and aware on the field. His influence on the field continues to be the same as in old times. During the RR vs RCB match at Chinnaswamy, his leadership instincts were on full display, despite Patidar leading the side.

‘There is a loss for words; Dinesh Karthik on Virat Kohli

“There is a loss for words. Purely the hunger that he has. It’s one thing to play in the IPL for 18 years, But it’s a different thing to be consistent for that long. This tells you a lot about the man. And he’s very determined. In the first three games in Bengaluru, he told me two things. One was that he could have probably thought a little better and next, even the fans – the way he looks at it – he knows that a lot of people turn up just to watch him bat,” Karthik said in the dressing room.

“So you can see that even though he did not say it explicitly, he felt that. And if that man puts his mind to something, the way he adapts, understands situations, I am too small a person to even speak about him. He is an absolutely champion. Just the way he guided Dev along the way, making sure he took Salt along at the start. His body language and commitment to a cause is outstanding.”

Despite the strong start by the Rajasthan Royals at the start and after the middle overs, RCB secured an 11-run win over the visitors. RCB scored 205 runs in their 20 overs, with a 95-run partnership from Kohli and Padikkal. Rajasthan Royals were in a strong position needing only 18 runs from 12 balls, but Josh Hazlewood’s impressive death over bowling led the team to much-needed victory at their home.
