Mumbai Indians faced Lucknow Super Giants in match 45 of the ongoing Indian Premier League. Rishabh Pant won the toss and invited the home team to bat first. Both teams made some important changes to their squad in order to balance out each other and announced new players to adapt better at the Wankhede Pitch on Sunday, 27 April.

Announcing the changes, LSG skipper Rishabh Pant brought Mayank Yadav in to replace Shardul Thakur. Meanwhile, the Mumbai Indians also made important changes and excluded Jasprit Bumrah from the playing XI of today.

Why Bumrah is kept out of the playing XI

Hardik Pandya announced the surprise exit of Jasprit Bumrah from the Playing XI in the match against LSG. The announcement quickly became a matter of concern for fans who were wondering to see their favorite bowler in action.

But the fans need not worry about Jasprit, as the pacer will return in the second innings. MI kept him in the impact player list as they wanted more stability and depth in their batting order, which is why the pacer was benched in today’s match. In place of Bumrah, Hardik has brought back Rohit Sharma in the playing XI.

Talking of other changes, Mumbai Indians announced their playing XI and squad changes ahead of the match, making three alterations. Rohit Sharma, Cobrin Bosch, and Karn Sharma replaced Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Santner, and Vignesh Puthur. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants made two changes, bringing in Ayush Badoni and Mayank Yadav for David Miller and Shardul Thakur.
