Facing Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in the double headers on Sunday, the Rajasthan Royals skipper etched his name in the book of IPL records. He became the first player to hit consecutive 6 sixes and did the unthinkable.
KKR won the toss and decided to take the first strike, putting the visitors in to bowl. The reigning champions made the most of the opportunity, racking up a formidable total of 206 runs. Rajasthan Royals, in reply, had a shaky beginning, losing Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Kunal, and Jaiswal early on—Jaiswal showed promise but couldn’t convert, falling prey to Moeen Ali. Just when things looked bleak, Riyan Parag stepped up and turned the game around with a match-defining performance, bringing his dream innings to life. He took on Moeen Ali and hit him for five sixes and then continued the six streak with a six to Varun Chakaravarthy’s first delivery of the 14th over.

Riyan Parag falls short of a century despite the record-breaking knock
Coming on the field early after RR’s 8-2 in the second over, Riyan took charge of the RR innings and brought an explosive knock. He started with a positive mindset and had an intent of being on the field till the last 2 overs, but somehow he got out in the 18th over. Smashing six consecutive sixes, he finished off with 95 in just 45 balls and led his team to winning hopes.
Riyan Parag’s dismissal in the 18th over proved to be a turning point for Rajasthan Royals, as Harshit Rana outfoxed the elegant right-hander at a crucial stage. The match came down to a nail-biting finish with RR needing 3 runs off the last delivery, but they could only secure a single, falling short by just one run in a heartbreaking defeat.
Winning the toss, KKR opted to bat first and invited visitors to field first. Batting first, the defending champions posted a total of 206 and invited RR to chase. Coming on the chase, RR started slow and lost Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Kunal, and Jaiswal, who tried but fell short to Moeen Ali, but then Riyan Parag came and scripted his dream to reality.
