Rajasthan Royals are facing allegations of match fixing after their recent outing against Lucknow Super Giants in match 36 of the ongoing Indian Premier League. The news surfaced on the internet after Jaideep Bihani, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad hoc committee convener, alleged that the then Riyan Parag-led side was involved in foul play against LSG.
Facing Lucknow Super Giants in the Match 36, Royals lost the match to visitors by a close contest of 2 runs. Chasing a target of 181 runs, RR needed just nine runs to win in the final over with 6 wickets in hand. But what folded in the match surprised everyone, they ended up losing the almost won match to Giant as Avesh Khan restricted the team with his exceptional death over bowling.
However, the loss might have been digested by fans and players, but that didn’t go well with Jaideep Bihani, who questioned how the team lost such a close match on their own home ground. After the narrow loss, Jaideep Bihani, an MLA from Sri Ganganagar and convenor of the government-nominated ad hoc committee of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), made sensational revelations in an interview with News18 Rajasthan.
RR denies any match fixing charges
“We reject all allegations made by the convener of the ad hoc committee. Such public statements are not only misleading but have caused serious damage to the reputation and credibility of Rajasthan Royals, Royal Multi Sport Private Limited (RMPL), the Rajasthan Sports Council, and the BCCI. They also tarnish the integrity of cricket.” Rajasthan Royals management stated
Deep Roy, a senior RR official, has issued a strong reply and described Bihani’s claim as “false, baseless and without evidence”. And further also stated that they have a good relationship with the cricket governing body and also take the IPL Code of Conduct seriously.
