The El Clasico of the Indian Premier League is underway where the arch-rival Mumbai Indians are playing against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. The teams have won five titles in their favor making them the rivals and also the most successful teams in the history of the league. The baton of leadership for both the teams has been passed on to the younger generation with Ruturaj leading the CSK in front and Hardik leading Mumbai.

Winning the toss, CSK opted to bowl bringing the Mumbai Indians to bat first. Coming first on the crease, Rohit and Rickelton opened the Batting order for the blue army, and on the bowler end, Khaleel Ahmed took charge. Bowling his first over, Ahmed successfully dismissed MI’s Rohit Sharma for a duck in the IPL 2025 opener, marking the third time he’s removed him in the league. 

Bringing on his attack Khaleel continued to attack and dismissed Rickelton on 13 runs for the second wicket for the team. The fiery bowling of Khaleel helped the team to get a much-needed strong start. CSK then introduced Ravichandran Ashwin in the powerplay and the spinner struck in his first over by packing Will Jacks for 11(7).

Finishing the power play with Khaleel Ahmed over’sTilak Verma tried to hit a strong boundary on the last bowl of the powerplay but missed scoring any runs for the team. Finishing off the powerplay with a score of 52/3, MI is looking to recover the shaky start of the season’s opener match. While writing, Suryakumar Yadav the one-day skipper is building a partnership with Tilka Verma trying to stabilize the innings for the Mumbai Indians.
