Glenn Maxwell ruled out of IPL 2025? Shreyas Iyer indicates

Glenn Maxwell, the all-rounder of Punjab Kings, has been ruled out of the game against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk. Captain Shreyas Iyer revealed at the toss that the 36-year-old has suffered a fractured finger. He also hinted that Glenn Maxwell could be ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025.

Shreyas Iyer, captain of Punjab Kings, won the toss and chose to bowl first against Chennai Super Kings in the 49th match of the IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk. At the toss, Shreyas Iyer revealed that Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of the game and hinted that the season might be over for the Australian all-rounder.

“Unfortunate that he’s got a fractured finger (Maxwell). Haven’t decided on a replacement so far,” Iyer told toss presenter Danny Morrison. Suryansh Shedge replaced Maxwell in the playing XI. Even though Iyer mentioned the word ‘replacement’, it is still not confirmed if Maxwell will play in the rest of the tournament.

Punjab Kings bought Glenn Maxwell for INR 4.2 crore in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. The 36-year-old played 7 matches this season, scoring just 48 runs with an average of 8.00 and a strike rate of 97.95. Additionally, he took 4 wickets with the ball.
