Since its inception in 2016, the Tamil Nadu Premier League(TNPL) has emerged as a vital platform for domestic talent, offering high-intensity T20 Cricket and spotlighting some finest bowlers in the state. Administered by the TNCA-Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, TNPL has become more than just a local league and is now featured as one of the most popular regional leagues. With 8 teams battling it out each season in a round robin format followed by playoffs, the league structure has tested bowlers across different teams, surfaces, and pressure scenarios.

As of the 2025 season, R Sai Kishore leads the all-time wicket-taking charts with 82 wickets in 63 matches and is the highest wicket taker in TNPL history since its inception. Followed by him, AB Tanwar shares the same wicket tally but with different metrics and data. R Sai Kishore – 83 Wickets

A familiar name in the domestic scene, Sai has been the face of consistency and determination. With 83 wickets in 63 matches, he has led many attacks with his disciplined bowling and left arm spin. His best bowling figures of 5/13 showcases his match winning abilities. Maintaining an impressive economy of 6.39 and an average of 18.32, Sai has shown remarkable control and adaptability over the years. In this long span of time, he has shared bowling stats with four different franchises.

AB Tanwar – 83 Wickets

Tanwar has been part of different franchises in the TNPL and shares the same stats as Sai. with a tally of 83 wickets in 68 matches, he remained a key figure with his attacking style. With the best of 4/16, he has bowled over 234 overs and gained an average of 22.45 and economy of 7.95. Despite a comparatively higher economy rate, Tanwar managed consistency with his wicket taking abilities.

V Athisayaraj Davidson- 75 Wickets

From the beginning of TNPL Journey in 2016, Davidson has been the name that quietly grew into the major force. Having donned jerseys for the four different franchises, Davidson has stayed loyal to the league while constantly evolving as a bowler. In  a format where bowlers often struggle to maintain consistency, he has managed to claim 75 wickets in just 51 games. His best figures of 4/24 are just one of the three four wicket hauls that he has under his name. He may not have been in to highlights but has maintained an average of just 21 and an economy of 8.65.

RS Shah – 72 Wickets

Shah has been a consistent performer in the TNPL League, picking up 72 wickets in 68 matches, he has showcased his bowling abilities. With best bowling figures of 4/12, Shah has showcased his potential as the top wicket taker of the TNPL League. With an average of 22.76 and an economy of 7.07, he maintains a good balance between runs and wickets. With experience from 5 different franchises he is almost familiar with every batter and their techniques which further allows him to strategize and bring on his game play.

Sonu Yadav – 70 Wickets

Yadav is among the few players, especially bowlers with a five -wicket haul in this list. With 70 wickets in 58 games and a sharp strike rate of 15.70 he has been instrumental in shaping important matches for his teams. Having donned the jersey for four different franchises he has an average of 21.57 and economy of 8.08, which reflect his aggressive bowling style. He has recently registered himself under a record for bringing up a fifer in seasoner opener match impressing fans with his abilities.
