Rohit Sharma played in his first-ever ICC event semi-final in the T20 World Cup 2007 against Australia, where he remained not out on 8 in 5 balls. In his second semi-final against Sri Lanka in the Champions Trophy 2013, the top-order batter scored 33 runs off 50 balls, providing the team a stable start in the big match.
Rohit played his third ICC event semi-final in the T20 World Cup 2024, scoring 24 runs off just 13 balls against South Africa. He got out to Mitchell Johnson in his fourth semi-final in CWC 2015, scoring 34 runs off 48 balls.

Similarly to 2019, the 2023 CWC was also great for Rohit, both as a leader and as a player. He gave a flying start to the team in the big semi-final against New Zealand. He scored quickfire 47 runs off just 29 balls in the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
The Nagpur-born player played one of his best knockout innings in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024 against England, scoring 57 runs off 39 balls. This was also one of the best innings of the tournament played under pressure on a difficult pitch to bat on.
