In a video posted on ICC’s social media handle, Indian ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma reveals his mantra for success, saying, “There is no secret to playing a sport, to be honest; you just have to work really hard at your individual game that you have, and that is what I have done. I worked really hard understanding what sort of player I am. What are my strengths? What are my weaknesses? Understand that and then play the game.”
“It’s Just About Timing” – Rohit Sharma on his six hitting
I don’t specifically go and practice six hitting; it’s just about timing for me because I play the new ball, and when the ball is nice and hard, all you need to do is just get the bat in time and try to middle the ball, so that is where my focus is, and then the technicality of the batsmanship comes in, where you know you want to extend your arm to get it over the infield, and all of that comes into the picture, so I keep it very, very simple, and it may sound very simple, but it is not. But yeah, a lot of work goes on behind the scenes to achieve what I achieved on the field.”
Rohit Sharma has a record of most sixes in international cricket. The top-order batter has hit 632 sixes in 496 matches. In terms of format, Hitman is leading the six-hitter in T20Is with 205 sixes and just 12 sixes behind in ODIs to achieve the record of the highest sixes in ODIs.
