Yashasvi Jaiswal has left Mumbai and now has moved out to Goa for the new domestic season. He will now be playing for the Goa team in the upcoming domestic season. Earlier in the day, the reports were that the player had sought NOC from the Mumbai Cricket Association(MCA) to move from the team.
Jaiswal, soon after the NOC grant from MCA, has reflected upon his decision and has revealed his reaction to move out of the team, and also expressed his gratitude to the Mumbai team for all the love and recognition in his cricketing career. Jaiswal said he will forever be indebted to Mumbai, but couldn’t turn down an offer from the Goa team.
“Whatever I am today is because of Mumbai,” Jaiswal
Revealing his reason for the decision, Yashasvi said to the Indian Express, “It was a very tough decision for me. Whatever I am today is because of Mumbai. The city has made me who I am, and all my life, I will be indebted to the MCA.”
“Goa has thrown me a new opportunity and it has offered me a leadership role. My first goal will be to do well for India and whenever I’m not on national duty, I will be playing for Goa and try to make them go deep into the tournament. This was an (important) opportunity which came my way and I just took it,” he explained.
Jaiswal has played for Mumbai since his U-19 days and burst on to the scene after scoring a double century for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy a few seasons ago. His efforts in domestic cricket enabled him to elevate himself in the Indian national team two years ago and since then, he hasn’t looked back. And talking about all this love and recognition from Mumbai, the batter said, “Whatever I am today is because of Mumbai”
Jaiswal played on the Mumbai front last season in domestic cricket after the Indian cricket board issued guidelines to players to play domestic cricket in the absence of any International matches. He represented Mumbai in a Ranji match where he scored 4 and 26 against Jammu and Kashmir. Now joining Goa for better opportunities, he will join the steps of Arjun Tendulkar and Siddhesh Lad, who did the same thing, left Mumbai, and joined Goa for better opportunities.
