Zeeshan Ansari, the leg spinner of Sunrisers Hyderabad, took his three wickets on his debut in the IPL against Delhi Capitals on 30 March. The 25-year-old dismissed Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk in one over and bowled KL Rahul in his next over to bring SRH back into the game with his incredible skills with the ball.

Who is Zeesham Ansari?

Zeeshan Ansari is a 25-year-old leg spinner from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, who was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 40 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. Born on 16 December 1999, the bowler was picked by the franchise when he had played just one T20 game for his state.

The leg spinner took most wickets in the inaugural UP T20 League, 24 in 12 matches with an economy of 7.60. In the high-scoring final of the tournament, Zeeshan bowled an amazing spell, taking 1 wicket in his 4 overs, giving just 20 runs, and making a crucial contribution to his team, the Meerut Mavericks, to win the trophy. Additionally, Ansari was part of the Indian Under-19 batch of 2016 with players like Rishabh Pant, Sarfaraz Khan, and Ishan Kishan.

In his debut in the IPL, Zeeshan Ansari took 3 wickets of Faf du Plessis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, and KL Rahul. In his four overs, he took 3 wickets and gave 42 runs against Delhi Capitals.

However, his effort goes in vain as Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets. While batting first, SRH put up a total of 163 in 20 overs, thanks to an amazing 74-run inning from Aniket Verma and a counterattacking 32-run knock from Heinrich Klaasen. However, Delhi Capitals chased down the target quite comprehensively, thanks to fifty from Faf du Plessis and good knocks from Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel.
