Mumbai Indians take on the Chennai Super Kings in the famous El Clasico at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The most successful teams of the season are once again set to have a face off offering a thrilling contest for fans.

Winning the toss, MI skipper Hardik Pandya opted to bowl first and invited visitors Chennai to bat first. Talking about the squad for the day, Mumbai Indians went with the same Playing XI for the clash, whereas, on the other hand, CSK skipper MS Dhoni announced that, We have one change – Ayush Mhatre comes in for  Rahul Tripathi.

Who is Ayush Mhatre?

The 17 year debutant Ayush Mhatre was signed by Chennai Super Kings for 30 lakhs and was earlier invited by the franchise to bat in the nets. It is believed that the team management chose the 17-year-old for his aggressive batting and finally. After a seven-match wait this season, CSK has finally given the youngster his much-needed and long-awaited debut.

Mhatre’s Domestic Career

Ayush has impressive stats under his belt, he made his debut for Mumbai in the 2024-25 Irani cup and since then there has been no looking back for the player. Playing a total of 9 first-class games, he has scored a total of 504 runs with two centuries and at an average of 31.50. 

Mhatre has also impressed in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he has accumulated a total of 458 runs in 7 innings. He became the youngest player in List A cricket to score 150+, with a knock of 181 against Nagaland, breaking Yashasvi Jaiswal’s record.
