Virat Kohli has dropped a major hint about his future cricket plans and has cleared the retirement rumours. He cleared his plans and confirmed that he wants to bring the next ODI World Cup for India, which means he is aiming for the upcoming World Cup 2027 win before finally hanging up the boots.

Talking at the Royal Challenger Bengaluru event, in Mumbai, Virat Kohli talked about his future plans and once again has filled his fans with hopes of winning another ICC trophy.

The next big step, win 2027 ODI World Cup: Kohli

In a viral video from an event at Mumbai, RCB star Virat Kohli can be seen replying to a question asked by the anchor, “Any hints about the next big step.” replying to which, the batter replied  “I don’t know, maybe try to win the next World Cup in 2027.”

Virat Kohli, who was part of India’s winning ODI team in 2011, has now almost confirmed his next big career move to his fans. Additionally, he was a member of the Champions Trophy-winning squad and also featured in the 2013 edition, where India emerged victorious.

By the time the 2027 World Cup arrives, Kohli will be 38 and his growing age numbers could be a cause of worry, but seeing his fitness and present form, he surely be part of India’s plans.

RO-KO to get boost in Central contract: Reports

RO-KO, the senior stars, are set to retain their A+grade contract worth INR 7 Crore. Both the stars have retired from the T20Is and are now part of ODI and test teams. 

“Breaking Rohit and Virat will continue their A+ grade central contract even after retiring from T20 format , Shreyas Iyer all set to be back in central contract likely in Grade A: Sources,” ANI Sports Correspondent Vipul Kashyap wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

According to an ANI report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will retain veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in A+ category of the 2025-26 central contracts. The BCCI has decided to maintain its contract status out of respect for its stature in Indian cricket. On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer is expected to regain his central contract after losing it in the 2023-24 cycle.
