Watch: Sanju Samson loses cool, throws bat in frustration vs Punjab Kings 

Samson is a kind of player who rarely shows his emotions on the field and usually plays with a calm demeanor in any match. However, a different side of him was seen during the game against the Punjab Kings Chandigarh. The usually composed captain not just lost his temper today but also lost his wicket, which he expressed by throwing his bat in frustration. Rajasthan Royals were against Punjab Kings at the Mullanpur stadium in Match 18 of the ongoing Indian Premier League.

Why did Samson throw his bat?

The frustration incident unfolded in the 11th over when the opener batsman was building a stable partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal before getting out to a delivery of Lockie Ferguson. Sanju Samson was batting well and had scored 38 runs off 26 balls before Ferguson switched the delivery for serious pace.

He bowled a fast, full delivery at 144 km/h right on the off-stump, Samson tried to lift it over the fielders, but the ball didn’t come off the bat and twisted in his hands and ended up hitting it straight to Shreyas Iyer at mid-off. Not happy with the mistiming, Shreyas threw his bat in frustration with the disappointment as he walked back to pavilion. 

Samson took charge as Captain

Sanju Samson, who today returned as a Captain for Rajasthan Royals after three matches, made a stellar comeback and replaced Riyan Parag as the Captain. The first three matches were captained by Parag, who led the team and just got one win in its favor. Sanju Samson has returned as the captain of the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025 after playing the first three matches as an impact player. He has fully recovered from his finger injury and is now back in the playing XI.
