GT is officially out of the tournament, and now Mumbai Indians will play against Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 on June 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Mumbai Indians put up a strong total of 228/5 in their 20 overs with contributions from the team. Rohit gave a solid start, scoring 81 off just 50 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes before falling to Prasidh Krishna. Jonny Bairstow contributed 4747 from 22 balls. Later, Tilak and Suryakumar added more runs, with the Captain being unbeaten with 25 off 11 balls, and kept the momentum going. Overall, it was a dominant batting display that set the tone for the win tonight.
Even though GT lost Shubman Gill early, they kept fighting with a good partnership between Sai Sudharsan and Kusal Mendis. Sai played some beautiful shots and looked in great form. Kusal also batted well but was unlucky and got out by stepping on his stumps. Washington Sundar came in at number 4, and he and Sai helped the team score some big runs to keep the chase alive. But then Mumbai Indians brought in Bumrah, who flipped the match in their favor and dismissed Sundar.
