Right before the IPL 2025 final, RCB Star Virat Kohli is in the headlines, but this time not for what you think. His Bengaluru Restaurant Chain, One8 Commune Branch, is in legal trouble as the Cubbon Park Police has registered a suo-moto case for smoking violations. The Pub has been booked under Sections 4 and 21 of COTPA for not having a designated zone within the restaurant for smoking.

This isn’t the only time that the pub has been booked. One 8 Commune has faced actions in the past as well. An FIR was registered in June last year for operating beyond the stipulated time.  The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike had also issued a notice to the restaurant in December for not obtaining an NOC from the Fire Department.

Why has One8 been booked for the Suo-Moto case?

The officials have booked the Virat Kohli co-owned franchise Pub in Bengaluru for not having an separate Smoking area as per the Laws required, reported ANI and is booked under Sections 4 and 21 of COTPA, which addresses the regulations related to smoking in Public areas and need of having a smoke area in the restaurants and Pubs.

An FIR has been filed against the manager and staff of One8 Commune for violating anti-smoking laws, after police found no designated smoking areas during a routine check on May 29. The case was registered under sections of COTPA at the Cubbon Park Police Station. However, Virat Kohli has nothing to do with the case and he will not be seen as involved.

The player is currently with the IPL Franchise and is preparing for the upcoming grand finale of the Indian Premier League 2025. RCB made it to the final after beating Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 and now will face the same opponents in the Final today at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
