Vijender Singh, a former Olympic medalist, has raised interest on social media with his post about Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s IPL breakout. In his recent post on ‘X’, the boxing star raised the question whether age fraud had settled in cricket.  “Bhai aaj kal umar choti ker ke cricket me bhe khelne lage (Players have started reducing their age in cricket too),” posted Olympic Games bronze medallist Vijender Singh on X.

Age fraud is a major concern in the Indian Sports Industry, where players engage in the practice of misrepresentation of players’ age. This practice is very common among the junior and sub-junior level players, which helps the players to compete against younger players or even aid their career in the long run. The BCCI(Board of Control for Cricket in India) has taken enough measures to address the concern, including a stricter process to ensure fair play.

After Vijender’s post, his comment section was filled with Vaibhav’s linkup to the post, users wrote like, “Vaibhav suryawanshi ki baat kar rahe ho kya”, taking a dig at the player. Users questioned about the age of the Rajasthan Royals player Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who is the youngest player to score a century in the T20 format. It is important to note that there is no confirmation of the age fraud allegations against Suryavanshi at present.

Vaibhav’s age has been a matter of concern and many believe that the player is not 14 years old. Many players have faced the ban for age fraud including Cricketers like Rasikh Salam, Manjot Kalra, and Nitish Rana.

Vaibhav has been performing spectacularly in the ongoing IPL season for Rajasthan Royals, the 14-year old has shattered records with his Hundred against Gujarat Titans, where he smashed a century in just 35 balls.
