Vidarbha vs Kerala, Final 2024-25: Dismissal over confusion, Karun Nair was sent back missing his century in final

Playing for Vidarbha skipper Karun Nair missed a chance to score a century in the final. In the ongoing Ranji Final 2024-25, losing the toss to the Kerala team,  the Vidarbha team started batting first. Playing in the first innings the team posted a total of 379 in the Ranji Trophy Final.

This mammoth score on the scoreboard was a result of the combined partnership of Danish Malewar and Karun Nair who contributed a score of 153 and 86. Overall day majorly was played by both players but the two faced miscommunication leading them to the dismissal of Nair.

Nair who recently reached a milestone of 8000 runs was seen fuming over the incident, where he got dismissed for a run out over a miscommunication with his partner, costing him a chance to score a century in its favor.  The dismissal anger was evident on his face as he threw his bat away from him after he was knocked out.

The incident occurred in the 82nd over of Vidarbha’s innings, when an opponents bowler named Eden Apple Tom delivered a back-of-a-length ball outside off-stump. Sighting this, Nair chose to leave the ball, leading it to the wicketkeeper Mohammed Azharuddeen. But Azharuddeen failed to collect the ball and seeking this, Nair ran to the other side to steal a quick single. But was sent by his partner on the field Danish Malewar. Sighting this confusion, before he could reach back to his side of the crease the bails were already hit by Rohan Kunnummal. The stumps were gone and so were the chances of the youngster, He called off the field for Run out and made his way back to the pavilion.
