SRH vs MI 2025: Why players are wearing black armbands and no cheerleaders at the match

Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Mumbai Indians, the 41st match of the IPL 2025, is being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad. Notably, both the participating teams are wearing black armbands also there are no cheerleaders or fireworks at the grounds.

As a mark of respect for the victims of the terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, players from both participating teams, SRH and MI, wore black armbands. The BCCI also decided not to have cheerleaders or fireworks for the game.

“The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday. On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act with strongest possible words, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls. In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy,” Devajit Saikia, the BCCI secretary, has said in a statement on Wednesday.
