Former India Captain Sourav Ganguly has been re-appointed as the chairperson of the International Cricket. Along with him his national teammate VVS Laxman has also been picked up as one of the panel members.

Sourav Ganguly was first appointed in the year 2021 and had taken over the duties from another fellow legend Anil Kumble. Kumble stepped down as the president after serving the maximum allotted tenure of three years. Having led the team from 2000 to 2005, he was once again picked up by the committee after his tenure.

“At the International Cricket Council, we are deeply committed to fostering inclusivity and ensuring every cricketer has the opportunity to shine, regardless of their circumstances. In collaboration with our valued partners, we are proud to launch this task force and support fund, complemented by a comprehensive high-performance programme, to ensure displaced Afghan women cricketers can continue their journey in the sport,” Jay Shah said in an official statement.

The new committee panel includes VVS Laxman and ex-Afghanistan player Hamid Hassan, West Indies great Desmond Haynes, current South African captain Temba Bavuma and ex-English batter Jonathan Trott.
