Sanju Samson seeks BCCI clearance for wicket-keeping role, returns to NCA for Assessment

Samson flew from Guwahati to the BCCI centre to seek full clearance on his role.

After winning the last match against CSK, the Rajasthan skipper has returned to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) to seek clearance for the wicket-keeping role. Samson flew from Guwahati to the BCCI centre to seek full clearance to continue his wicket-keeping duties and take on the Royals command in his hands.

Sanju Samson, who was only supposed to play as a batter for the first three matches of the team after he had undergone index finger surgery. Now that the three matches of the team have been concluded, Samson has knocked on the doors of BCCI’s COE to seek fitness approvals and keep on the skipper duties. Sources indicate that his thumb injury is completely healed, and he is sure that he  “He will seek clearance to do so for the remaining games and is expected to be back as skipper from the RR’s next match, which is nearly a week away,” said a source.

IPL 2O25: Will Samson Take Back the Gloves? 

Indian Premier League, which is underway and is now moving in the league stage with new matches concluding each day. And amongst this Rajasthan skipper, Sanju Samson, has reached BCCI to get clearance on his role as a wicketkeeper. The Rajasthan Royals skipper had initially received only a partial and temporary go-ahead to play in the ongoing IPL following surgery on his right index finger. Now, he will undergo testing by the Sport Science wing at the CoE and request approval to resume his full duties.

If granted permission, then Sanju Samson will return as a wicketkeeper for the team and will be seen taking on behind-the-stump duties. In his absence, Dhruv Jurel kept wickets for the team. If he receives clearance from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) facility, the India ‘keeper-batter is expected to reclaim his role behind the stumps and resume his captaincy as well.

Rajasthan Royals started the season on a rough note, losing the initial two matches before winning against the Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati on Sunday night.
