In his message, Sachin praised Kohli’s career and also shared a sweet memory from 12 years ago when Virat offered him a special gift during Sachin’s last Test match.

Virat Kohli has played a total of 123 Tests—68 of them as captain for India—scoring 9230 runs with an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries. He is regarded as one of India’s best Test captains and is credited with changing the attitude and culture of the team during his leadership.

It was something too personal for me to accept, but the gesture was heartwarming and has stayed with me ever since. While I may not have a thread to offer in return, please know that you carry my deepest admiration and very best wishes.
