India is set to play New Zealand in the highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Ahead of the big match, Team India prepared in the net session held on Friday, where senior players of the team who are most likely playing their last Champions Trophy got involved in a long chat, while the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir and chairman of the BCCI selection committee Ajit Agarkar were also seen having a deep conversation.

Updates from India’s practice session ahead of Champions Trophy final

Rohit-Virat long chat

Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two of the most senior players of the team, were seen chatting for over 15 minutes during the team’s practice session on Friday. This is most likely the last Champions Trophy final for the modern-day Indian cricket legends.

Virat Kohli is in great form. The 36-year-old scored 217 runs in the first four matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with an average of 72.33, including a century against Pakistan and a match-winning 84-run innings in the semi-final against Australia. However, Rohit was unable to convert his starts into big scores in the first four games. The opener scored 104 runs in four matches with a strike rate of 107.21.

Gambhir-Agarkar chat

On the other side of the Rohit-Virat, the India team head coach Gautam Gambhir was spotted having a deep chat with the chairman of the BCCI selection committee, Ajit Agarkar. Both have done remarkable work, with Gambhir leading Team India to the final as coach in his first-ever white-ball ICC event, while Agarkar has been so smart with his selection of five spinners in the Champions Trophy squad.

Team India is preparing hard for the finals, as according to the reports, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill batted over an hour in the practice session. Gill is currently the ICC’s top-ranked ODI batter in the world.

The Indian team vice captain has scored 157 runs in the first four matches with an average of 52.33, including 1 century against Bangladesh. The team has high hopes for the batter in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final.
