Rohit Sharma overtakes Virat Kohli in ODI Rankings

Thanks to his match-winning knock of 76 runs in the final, Rohit Sharma has moved up to 3rd place in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings.

With a match-winning knock of 76 runs in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final, India captain Rohit Sharma overtakes Virat Kohli to achieve the top 3 ODI rankings. Regarded as the “Prince of Indian cricket,” Shubman Gill has retained the top spot with Pakistan. Babar Azam remains in second place in the ICC’s latest ODI player rankings. 

Four Indian ODI batters, Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer, currently feature in the ICC’s top 10 rankings. This highlights the strength of India’s ODI batting lineup and why they are strong contenders for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Rohit Sharma overtakes Virat Kohli in ODI Rankings

Thanks to the outstanding inning of 76 runs off 83 balls by Rohit Sharma in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, including 3 sixes and 7 fours, the “Hitman” moved to 3rd in the latest ICC ODI batters ranking, overtaking Virat Kohli, who failed to make an impact against New Zealand in the final and got out for 1 run in 2 balls. However, he is still in the top 5 ranks.

Indian batters performed amazingly well in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Shreyas Iyer was the second highest run getter with 243 runs in 5 matches with an average of 48.60. He saved India many times in a pressure situation with his amazing batting at number 4. 

Virat Kohli scored the second most runs for India in the Champions Trophy 2025. The 36-year-old put up 218 runs with an average of 54.50, including a century against Pakistan and a brilliant knock of 84 runs in the semi-final against Australia. 

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave some attacking starts to India in the tournament. Rohit scored 180 runs with a strike rate of 100.00, including player of the match in the final, while Gill scored 188 runs with an average of 47.00, including a century against Bangladesh.
