Rohit Sharma named as the brand ambassador for the T20 Mumbai League

The T20 Mumbai League is making a comeback after six years, and Rohit Sharma has been appointed as the brand ambassador for the League. Mumbai Cricket Association has brought Rohit on board, and he would likely be present at the announcement event on Friday.

The season will make a comeback after six years and the press announcement for the league is scheduled for Friday, April 18 in Mumbai. This season will feature a total of eight teams with addition of two fresh teams in. Each team will see some of the big names of Indian Cricket including  Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Tushar Deshpande, and Prithvi Shaw and the MCA is considering paying them Rs 15 lakh each for the tournament.

MCA has not made it mandatory for players to participate in the league, but is hopeful that the players will take part in the T20 Mumbai League. An official from the MCA talking about the season comeback said, “We have not made it mandatory for them to play, but we strongly expect them to play in the T20 Mumbai League. Their participation will only help Mumbai cricket grow and benefit the players and the league,” an MCA official told PTI.

The league began in 2018 and had its second season in 2019 before being halted due to COVID-19. All other leagues made their comeback after the pandemic, but the Mumbai League took more than expected. As per new reports, the league will finally make its comeback after IPL and MCA have received more than 2800 entries for the 2025 edition. Right now, the league has six teams: North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers, and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs and MCA is expanding the league with the addition of two more in this season.
