Mumbai Indians is facing Lucknow Super Giants in match 16 of the Ongoing Indian Premier League. The match is scheduled on the grounds of Ekana stadium. Both the teams are facing each other with aim for a win in this match and gain stability in their teams outings so far.

Winning the toss, Mumbai Indians opted to field, allowing the Lucknow team to bat first. Opening the innings for Lucknow, Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram stepped onto the crease while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack for the Mumbai Indians. After the toss, while announcing the playing XI, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik confirmed that the team would play without Rohit Sharma, as the former captain Rohit is reportedly injured.

Why No Rohit Sharma in Playing Squad

Mumbai Indians have suffered a massive setback as their star opener will not open for the team in today’s MI innings. Rohit is unavailable for the LSG clash and is reportedly injured. As confirmed by Hardik after the toss win, Rohit got injured during the net practice sessions and has suffered an injury to his knee.

Similar scenes were observed in the last match, when Rohit was named among the impact substitutes but eventually came out to bat. Heading into this match, a similar role was expected from him. However, due to injury, he couldn’t be included among the impact substitutes for today’s match.

It’s still unclear how the player sustained the injury, but the team management is taking all the necessary precautionary measures and has chosen to avoid putting any stress on their opener player. Ryan Rickelton is likely to open in his place for Mumbai in this match
