Rohit Sharma becomes first Mumbai Indians player to reach 6000 IPL runs

Against RR, Rohit Sharma hits 6000 runs in IPL for Mumbai Indians, becoming the second-ever to score 6k+ for a single franchise.

Facing Rajasthan Royals at their home turf, ex-MI skipper etched a new record in his name and became the first Mumbai Indians batter to reach 6000 runs in the Indian Premier League. A day after his birthday, Rohit reached this milestone with a fifty against the Rajasthan Royals. By far in the league history, Rohit is the MI’s leading run scorer and is the only second Player to score 6000+ runs playing for a single franchise.

Rohit creates history in IPL 2025

Rohit reached this milestone after playing in a total of 231 innings and became the only player to score 6k-plus runs. Reaching this feat, Rohit has surpassed Kieron Pollard who has 3915 runs in his name for MI. Rohit has been with the franchise for the last 14 years, and has over 7000-run milestone in the IPL, with a substantial chunk of those runs coming during his time with Deccan Chargers between 2008 and 2010. 

Rohit who started the season with a sluggish start has redeemed himself and from the last few matches is back at its fiery form. Facing RR on Thursday, Rohit started with intent and looked at his fluent best, hitting on all parts of the Sawai Mansingh stadium.

Opening the batting order, Rickelton and Rohit took on RR bowlers and brought their respective fifties on the field. At the time of writing, MI has put up a score of 217 on the scoreboard and will now come on the field to defend the target against RR. If they can secure a win, they will replace current table toppers RCB and will become a strong contender to clear off playoffs.
