History was made at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday night, as Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally lifted their maiden IPL Trophy after 18 long years of wait, heartbreaks, and near misses. The 2025 edition of the tournament saw RCB rise like never before, and on the grandest stage of them all, they delivered a performance fitting for the champion, defeating Punjab Kings by 6 Runs in a high-voltage Final.
Batting first in the pressure-packed finale, RCB got off to a strong start with Virat Kohli and Phil Salt laying a steady foundation. However, the momentum dipped slightly through the middle overs, as Punjab’s bowlers tightened their lines. Just when it looked like RCB might end below par, they put decent 191 runs for Punjab Kings to chase. In response, Punjab Kings opened brightly with Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh showing intent early on. But as soon as Priyansh fell, the momentum started slipping. Shreyas Iyer, expected to anchor the innings, was dismissed for just 1 run. Despite efforts from Nehal Wadhera and Josh Inglis, they couldn’t make it a title win.
