With the Asia Cup 2025 just weeks away, the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) is facing an unexpected challenge. Dream11, the fantasy sports platform that became Team India’s jersey sponsor in 2023, has officially ended its partnership following the passing of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025. The law bans real-money gaming platforms, leaving Dream11 unable to continue its sponsorship deal.

The departure of Dream11 has created a sudden sponsorship void, just as India prepares to compete in the United Arab Emirates starting September 9. The original deal with Dream11 was reportedly worth Rs 358 crore, including Rs 3 Crore per home match and Rs 1 Crore per away game. Jerseys for the upcoming tournament had already been printed with the Dream11 logo, but these will no longer be used.

Toyota and Fintech Start-up show Interest as new Sponsor

According to multiple reports, two companies have shown interest in stepping in as Team India’s new title sponsor. Toyota Motor Corporation, the Japanese automobile giant, is said to be in advanced discussions with the BCCI. A partnership with Toyota would not only provide financial stability but also bring global prestige to Indian cricket. In addition to Toyota, a major fintech start-up has also expressed interest in the sponsorship. Although the identity of the company remains undisclosed, fintech firms have been increasingly exploring opportunities in Indian cricket to reach millions of fans through digital financial services.

BCCI has not yet started the official tendering process, but the sources suggest that the board is aiming for a deal exceeding the previous Dream11 agreement. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia emphasized that the board will comply with all government regulations, stating, “If it’s not permissible, we’ll not do anything. The BCCI will follow every policy of the country that is framed by the central government.”

The Asia Cup will see India play matches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with Suryakumar Yadav leading the team and Shubman Gill serving as his deputy.

With the tournament approaching quickly, the BCCI is under pressure to finalize a new sponsorship partner so that the team can enter the competition with a fully updated kit. Whether Toyota or the fintech start-up secures the deal, the new sponsor will play a crucial role in Indian cricket’s adaptation to new regulations and in ensuring financial stability ahead of the major tournament.
