Once criticized for being overweight, Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan has lost 10 kgs of weight ahead of the upcoming England tour. Khan is preparing to the best of his abilities and is on a strict diet to control his weight. It’s still not sure whether the player will be part of the squad or not, but he has been named in the 18-member India A squad for a match series against the English Lions.
As per reports, Khan is getting ready to make the most of the given opportunity and is on a strict diet of boiled vegetables and chicken to improve his fitness. Along with the diet, the player is practising twice a day while working on the outside off-stump discipline, which is crucial for success in the swinging conditions of England.
“India Today has learnt that the Mumbai-born batter is on a strict diet plan of boiled veggies and chicken to get fitter. He’s also practicing twice a day, working on the outside off-stump discipline, which is key to success in the swinging conditions of England,” the report reads.
Sarfaraz Khan is yet to make his overseas Test debut and has been named in the India A squad for the upcoming tour of England, starting on May 30. The team is scheduled to play two games against England Lions (May 30-June 2 in Canterbury and June 6-9 in Northampton) and one intra-squad match against the senior India Test squad (June 13-16 in Beckenham).

Sarfaraz Khan’s International Career
Khan scored 150 against New Zealand in Bengaluru but was dropped after poor performances in the next two matches. He later missed the BGT and several Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season matches due to a rib injury. In his international career so far, Sarfarz has played a total of 6 tests and has scored 371 runs with an average of 37.20, including a century and three fifties.
