Sanju Samson’s health has become a talking point just weeks before the Asia Cup 2025, after his wife, Charulatha Remesh, shared that the wicketkeeper-batter was at a hospital on August 21. The update came through an Instagram story and immediately sparked concerns among fans and followers of Indian Cricket.

Samson is part of India’s 15-member squad for the Asia Cup, scheduled to begin on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates. His role will be crucial in the tournament, as he is expected to open the batting alongside Abhishek Sharma. Any health issue at this stage could be a setback for both Samson and the national team, which is preparing for a challenging campaign. Although Samson later participated in a domestic match on the same evening, the fact that he needed medical attention just hours earlier has left fans worried about his fitness. Reports indicated that he visited the hospital around 3 PM before joining his team for a scheduled game later that night. While he did not get a chance to bat, he still took the field, which raised questions about whether he had fully recovered.

Team India’s Concerns ahead of the tournament

With the Asia Cup less than three weeks away, the Borad of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) and the team management are closely monitoring the fitness of all players. Samson’s health remains a point of attention, given that he is one of two wicketkeeping options in the squad. Along with his batting responsibilities, his availability provides balance to the side.

India’s squad, led by Suryakumar Yadav, already has limited backup options in key positions, while standby players like Yashasvi Jiaswal and Dhruv Jurel are available, the team will prefer to have Samson fit and ready for the tournament. His form in recent games has been encouraging, but ensuring his health will be critical for India’s success in the Asia Cup.
